Little Monk unfolds as an open-air garden restaurant tucked within the grounds of a resort hotel, its dining spread across a checkerboard-paved lawn beneath a run of terracotta-tiled pavilion roofs and deep red awnings. A sandstone-clad entry pavilion, pierced by a fretted timber door and marked by a graphic monk motif, sets the contemplative theme that carries through the garden in the form of small monk statuary, a live "Do-It-Yourself" cooking counter, and lantern-lit stone pathways. Framed by frangipani and palm plantings against the host hotel's massing behind, the design turns an outdoor dining lawn into a themed destination in its own right.
